I did go back to Norton, and was rather disappointed. Wasn't bad, but didn't have quite the magic I recalled, though it was there in some passages. Then again, I only tried one book. The descriptive text still held, but the plot was still YA and I'm not any more.
I think it also depends which ones; some of them hold up better than others. Yes, the plots are YA, but the nostalgia-factor can compensate, I've found. I mean, I still enjoyed re-reading the early Solar Queen books, for example, even though the plot was usually obvious. I've generally found that her earlier novels are better than her later ones anyway; she burnt out later on.
