Gah!

Woke up at about 4:40 this morning, with the stereo-radio blasting at the other end of the house, the obvious signal that the power had gone off and come back on again. I was not going to get up to turn off the stereo, so I kept on hearing the radio, fortunately it wasn't that loud because the door was closed, and it was ABC FM so it was pleasant music.

So there I was, dozing on and off, and I finally dragged myself out of bed about nine, and of course the computer was off, I expected that. What I didn't expect was that my ADSL connection had gone off as well -- normally it just comes back on when I reboot the computer. But it didn't. So there I was, logging in to the modem (trying to find where I'd written the sekrit login info) and while the lights showed that the ADSL connection itself was on, the log-in-to-the-ISP was not logged in... and I kept on trying and it kept on not connecting. Then, when I finally decided to see if I could find the ISP's support number, it connected. Maybe it knew I was going to get the big guns, eh? Probably not. The support desk has been pretty useless in my experience, so I'm glad I didn't have to ring them.

So, here we are, another day. And my niece and nephews are visiting, which means I have to be awake and patient... so I am half-dreading it, when yesterday I was just looking forward to it.

Ah, maybe I should just go and have breakfast, that might cheer me up.
