No, it wasn't actually. It was "The People Collection" (1991) which purpoted to have collected all the People stories together in one volume. However, nobody seems to have heard of this book, and I never saw it since, either! So I consider myself very fortunate.

It has a lovely cover. At the top, a deep midnight/twilight blue sky. Then in the background, rugged mountain/canyon brown.
In the foreground, what looks like, at first glance, a girl in blue checked gingham sitting on a weathered wooden fence, holding a candle. Then you do a double-take, because the fence is broken and she's actually sitting on air. And she isn't holding a candle, she's making the air glow...

Really nice cover.
