Oh come all ye faithful

I have on my wrist, two bands of glowy plastic, y'know those tubes which you crack and then the liquid inside starts glowing. While the notice outside our church says "Carols by Candlelight", the projector says "Carols by Glowlight 2005". Yep, they were giving these glow-things out, for people to wave instead of candles. Sensible of them, I think, and more fun, cuz they're in different colours.
I sang my little heart out. And my voice too, it feels croaky now. I'm out of practice.

Oh come let us adore him
Oh come let us adore him
Oh come let us adore him
Christ the Lord!

I hate it when they change the words, like when they remove all the non-inclusive language and all the "thee"s and "ye"s; as someone who determinedly recites the old Lord's Prayer when all around me are using the new one, I'm with you...

But I'm afraid my "traditional!!!" streak is even tougher. Carols By are supposed to be by Candlelight (they are also supposed to be local and small-scale, not that ghastly media-hyped travesty one gets inflicted with on TV every year), so I'd probably have spent the night glaring at the glowy things as if they were alien slugs... (stuffy? stick-in-the-sentimental-mud? moi???)
