The Plumber Cometh - Part 2

'Twas on a Wednesday morning
The master plumber came
The plumber kept his boots on
But I welcomed him the same.
He poked and then he prodded
Inspected switches four
But he was not the 'prentice
His hands were deft and sure.

He called me then to try them
And to my great delight
To see for sure those burners four
Came easily alight.
He said to me, be gentle
For all my plumbing arts
This stovetop is so ancient
I cannot get new parts.

I swore I would be gentle
But I was filled with glee
You do not know, I said to him
How much this means to me.
There is a spot just at the top
Where I can put down stuff.
The newer stoves, configured wrong
Are simply not enough.

So now I have my stovetop
I have my burners four
He said, farewell, I'll send the bill
I waved him out the door.
So here I am, my saga's done
And I am still awake
I think for lunch, to celebrate
I'll cook myself some steak.

THE END
