kerravonsen: a woman and a man's hand, barely touching (SSHG)

I've just finished reading "Heart With No Companion" by Michmak
(http://www.thepetulantpoetess.com/viewstory.php?sid=2954)
It was recced on the [livejournal.com profile] sshg_quiz; that's why I was reading it.

I had the feeling, all the way through, that I'd read it before, but I couldn't understand why I wouldn't have kept and reviewed such a well-written story. The characterisation was good (well, except for Harry, he was being a bit over the top in the unreasonable prat stakes) and the world-building was good (with a terribly ingenious and evil curse), and the development of the relationship between Severus and Hermione was good, and the descriptions of the world inside Hermione's head were vivid, and finally the peril had been overcome, and it looked like a happy ending...

And then the epilogue kicked me in the gut. It jerked the rug out from under me and made me cry. I hate it. I want to give the author a chocolate cake where all the sugar has been substituted with salt.

I am Not Happy.

Fantastic fic. It was infurating to read as a WIP. She wrote 2 ending to it and let the reader decide.

As a death eater I can appreciate unhappy endings. ;)

I like "Finding His Voice" as well. That does have a happy ending.

I amback on the PC again! Yes, she wrote two endings. I think the unhappy ending is where they ae both trapped in the curse.

The other one, he survives.
