Finish-a-thon Progress

Words: 9083 (yay! I have broken into 9 thousand!)
Crossed another hurdle, my pigs are flapping a little, but they haven't yet gotten off the ground.
End of last scene:
They are not proper. They do not obey. They are free.

I shall let it settle a little and let my subconcious figure out which hurdle I should tackle next.

Deviant Strain

"The Deviant Strain" by Justin Richards

The first Who novel I've read that's been named after a typeface. 8-)

I'm reading these New Who novels to keep me in the groove for New Who. Golly, I seem to be getting all the New Who novels because of fic -- the first three I got because I wanted Whoness while I was writing Anaesthesia (and hadn't seen them all yet), and this three are because of my finish-a-thon (when there are no more Nine eps to see). This one was much better than the previous one. It had all three of them working together; Jack had a much better role. Both companions were useful in discovering things, helping to pull the information together. And the plot was pretty good, you had all the good Who elements -- monsters, myths, mysterious deaths, soldiers firing guns uselessly, last-ditch efforts, plan A, B, C and D (I'm not sure, did it get to Plan E in the end?). Yes, this was much better than The Christmas Invasion too. So I'm possibly reacting more positively than I might have if I hadn't been reacting against recent crap. But it was still decent.
