I heard back from Zazzle, and they said that the BBC had complained - though as someone said in my previous post on this, it seems strange that they would target me, and perhaps someone ratted on me. Whatever.
I pointed out their inconsistent policy application, and they thanked me for pointing out TOS violations. The products in question haven't been taken down (yet) but they might still be. If they aren't, that would be blatently unfair, rather than negligently unfair. We shall see.

Since I went to all the trouble of setting up my Zazzle store, I decided to put up some non-fannish stuff. Only one t-shirt so far, based on a lovely fractal I made using Evolvotron (a fractal-exploration program). Not sure what else I'll do; maybe some more fractals.

This is part of the letter I got in response to my first query (but not my second, they haven't responded to that yet)

Generally speaking, we cannot fulfill any orders containing a copyright or trademark protected title, name, or image. Examples of infringing material include:

--pictures or names of celebrities
--names of characters from books, films, or television shows
--titles of books, feature films, television shows, or magazines
--images from films, television shows, video games, or the internet

So it seems that they are applying their TOS - "pictures or names of celebrities" and "names of characters from books, films or television shows" and "titles of books, feature films, television shows or magazines" - but they are still applying it unfairly and inconsistently.

Zazzle, in their "wisdom" have removed every single one of my designs for "content violation". Even my "I'll explain later" shirt, which doesn't even contain illos. Apparently (according to their form letter) "Design contains an image or text that infringes on intellectual property rights. We have been contacted by the intellectual property right holder and at their request we will be removing your product from Zazzle???s Marketplace due to intellectual property claims"

WHAT?

Someone can have multiple designs which say "BOB is a sacred name" and I can't have one that says "I'll explain later"?

I suspect it's because I tagged it with the phrase "doctor who". Colour me confused, considering that redbubble has a completely different attitude to things like that - they even have a Doctor Who themed "community" on their site.

So, sorry everyone, you can't buy t-shirts from me, because they've removed them all.

Sh*t.

ETA: What is so completely unfair is that there are other people on zazzle who have Doctor-Who themed things, which are tagged as "doctor who" and they haven't been attacked. The "BOB is a sacred name" is tagged with "doctor who", and "This is a detonator" is tagged with "doctor who", and I think I even saw one with a Dalek on it (but I can't find it now). NOT FAIR!

Many years ago, I got myself an account on DeviantArt so that I could make comments. Today (after much renaming and zipping) I uploaded my first "works" to my account. I put "works" in quotes because they aren't works per se; they're Gimp brushes designed for LJ user-icons, fancy borders. I figured more people would find my brushes that way.

I am at http://kerravonsen.deviantart.com/ if any of you want to take a look.

As for putting anything else up there, I'm unsure, as I keep on getting mixed messages about whether DeviantArt is evil or okay. Any advice, folks?

[livejournal.com profile] tardis_bigbang is live! Lots of juicy Doctor Who, Torchwood and Sarah Jane stories! With art!
Go, read, comment!

I did one of the pieces of cover art for the story "The Centre of the Universe" by Azar.

Well, I've spent most of today battling with the RedBubble upload system, but with the (yay) result that I have added two three more Doctor Who t-shirts, and also ten Blake's 7 t-shirts (one for each main humanoid character except for Travis II). All of these are simply portraits, no words, because I thought that would be generally more appealing, but if anyone has a special request for a caption, I might be able to make versions with captions. Not every t-shirt has enough room left over for a caption, hence the "might" in the previous sentence.

Oh, the URL? Is http://kerravonsen.redbubble.com/

ETA: I've just finished doing a design based on my "Storm Crows" digital art. Added a very fancy border to it, like water ripples (yes, okay, so I'm on a water ripples streak...)

My page on RedBubble now has two vaguely Doctor-Who-ish T-shirt designs! Well, I'm quoting the Doctor, anyway.

Following the example of [livejournal.com profile] lizbee, I have joined RedBubble (http://www.redbubble.com/people/kerravonsen) but I haven't made any designs for it yet.

kerravonsen: "Seriousness is not a Virtue" (seriousness-not-a-virtue)
Yesterday I went shopping, and wandered into a shop which I knew would be a temptation -- Riot Art & Craft -- and I bought things I didn't even know existed. Such as plain, undecorated present-bags (that is, heavy paper bags intended to put presents into, so that one doesn't have to wrap them, just put them in the bag). Anyway, the idea is to decorate the bags yourself, with fun things like stickers and glitter... so I bought them for fun (and some stickers and glitter too, of course). And this afternoon I decorated a few.

I have decided not to participate in [livejournal.com profile] naarmamo this year, when I realized it was probably going to be more stressful than joyful -- not because of other people's expectations, but my own. And it's supposed to be fun. But I do want to do something arty, and I do want to stop giving myself excuses for not doing arty/crafty stuff... and I think I'd like to do a longer project, perhaps some crazy-patchwork, now that I have my sewing table cleared enough that I can see its surface. But a longer project will need some continuing encouragement to help keep me going until it's finished. Can you help me, oh flist?

Instead of writing Buffy crossover drabbles like I should be doing, or other stuff, I took it into my head the past several days to create an Xfce window manager theme -- from scratch.

I should probably go do something else.

There are other things I would like to do, but I probably won't find the time for them.

I haven't been working on my finish-a-thon story. (sigh) Over the past few days I've been distracted and consumingly inspired to do wallpaper related to the story instead. And today I've gone to the hairdresser, had lunch at parents', and been trying to figure out what to pack.

This one is directly inspired:
Rose and Memories
And this one arose because my earlier versions of the Rose one, I was trying to do something with this symbol of Rassilon, and I decided to just do one with the symbol itself, instead.
Wall on Gallifrey

I have not writted, but I have arted for my finish-a-thon. I'm hoping it will be inspirational. So here, mez amies, is wallpaper for my story:
Romana Rose
Edited to add:
I couldn't resist doing another version:
Romana Rose

I started working on one of my request icons, but ended up doing this instead:

And [livejournal.com profile] naarmamo is almost over. This one has whizzed past, and I did cool stuff! Here's today's, which is an emendation of yesterday's.

[livejournal.com profile] naarmamo continues; here be Day 21. This one is really cool, I think, made from scratch, digital stuff; a combination of a few techniques, so I made a tutorial too.
Black Sun
I actually did this yesterday, though I finished up the tutorial today.

More [livejournal.com profile] naarmamo. This time another green bookmark, of a slightly different design, which I finished last night. I'm pleased because I managed to colour-correct the scan so that it was the proper colour.

[livejournal.com profile] naarmamo continues. Today's Art is more messing around with following tutorials. This one was for water droplets on a surface:
