"The Pattern of Infinity" by Ana Dorfstad (Blake's 7) was the very first piece of fan fiction I ever read. Because it was well-written, I didn't equate bad writing with this genre; my standards remained high. Because I wrote to the author, I found fandom, and some of my longest and dearest friends. Some have gone, some are still here. But certainly my life would be very different if I hadn't picked up that spiral-bound typed draft that weekend, and started reading it.

My very first ever fanfiction was also Blake's 7! And I had never even seen the show. The Mind of a Man is a Double-Edged Sword. Gripping psychological fiction, wonderfully written. Didn't make a bit of difference that I hadn't seen the show.
