Heroes #10 Six Months Ago
Apr. 28th, 2007 03:33 pmSo we cut back to what happened six months ago...
Wah! Poor Hiro. (hugs Hiro)
So we know who Sylar is. So he's a repressed-nerd psycho, eh?
Has the black guy who works with HRG ever actually said anything?
What happened to change Matt's wife's attitude? Was it partly that Matt couldn't forgive himself for failing? I don't know very much about Dyslexia, or the attitude of employers towards it.
Why have Hiro's powers stopped working? Is it because he's too distraught? Or simply that going back in time is a very tricky proposition? Whenever he's teleported, it always seems to have been in time as well as space. Stopping time seems to be easier for him.
I loved the scene where he rings up Japan and gets himself on the phone, and says "Great-a Scott-u!"
I'm glad that Claire recognises the bitch-queen as a bitch from the start.
Okay, so there's reasons why Nikki has a split personality. It doesn't make me like "Jessica" any better.
Manifestation of the Ability: what do we know? Is it triggered? Does it manifest gradually?
We have a few different cases.
Ability triggered by a crisis?
Nathan (car accident)
Nikki? (abuse)
Claire (well, smashing your hand in glass could be considered a crisis)
Ability triggered by exposure to someone else with Ability?(*)
Peter? (did he develop after Nathan?)
Matt (he met and was whammied by Eden)
I'm not sure where Sylar fits. Did he steal Brian's telekinesis, or what? We know he had an uncanny ability at detecting things that were "broken". Why is he stealing brains? Is he "fixing" his own brain after examining the brains of people with Ability? No wonder they had to save the cheerleader, if that's so -- her ability would make him truly unstoppable. He's pretty unstoppable as it is.
Some we don't know how/when they started manifesting Ability:
Eden
the Black Guy Who Works for HRG
DL, Nikki's husband
Micah
the Waitress (unless her brain clot is a crisis)
Where have I seen the guy who played Brian before?
(*)Tomorrow People fans call this the "proximity theory", because of the way, in the New Series at least, someone might become a Tomorrow Person after knowing and interacting with Tomorrow People. There were two cases of it, which is one more than random chance and one less than a definitive pattern.
As ever, please don't spoil me for episodes I haven't seen yet.
